Our 12th Anniversary

September 3rd was our 12 year anniversary. I can't believe so much time has passed since we were married. When you add in the five years we dated before getting married, it doesn't even seem possible that much time has gone by. The last 17 years were not without a few bumps in the road, but together we have gotten through whatever came our way. I am so thankful that I have Rick, I can't imagine a life without him!

One of the happiest days of my life...

September 1st

September 1st was a special day, it was one year to the day that my pregnancy was confirmed via ultrasound. While I had taken several tests at home and had three blood tests, I was anxiously awaiting my first ultrasound. I can not adequately put into words the emotions that I felt when we heard Mia's heartbeat for the first time. It was an amazing day to say the least.

The Pink Ladies

Once we found out we were having a girl, my sister joked that we would have our own Pink Ladies. Shelly had adorable tutus and bloomers made for Abbie, Ella & Mia. I ordered onesies to complete the look and couldn't wait to see the girls together all dressed up. It was an interesting adventure to say the least. Despite what it might look like in the pictures, we do love our daughters!  I will put a couple pictures here, for the full dose of hilarity click here.

Our Trip To Texas

We had an amazing time in Texas, as always. I love my family, I love that there are so many of us and that everyone is so close. We stayed at my sister Joanna's house this time and it worked out great since she had all of her baby stuff for us to use. During the trip we went to my brother JR's new house several times, it is beautiful and we are so happy for JR and Kelly. Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures over there. Actually I didn't take as many pictures as I should have over the entire trip. That's how it usually goes though, I have the best of intentions and then we all get to talking!

Of course I do have some pictures to share, most of them are from our second day. My niece Madison asked if she could take some pictures with my camera too, she did pretty good! I will post a few of my favorite pictures here, if you want to see the all of the pictures follow this link.

Our Frequent Flyer

For the last several years we have gone to Texas to visit my family over Labor Day weekend, this year was no different. This was Mia's second trip via airplane and she did just as well this time around. On the way back from Texas the flight was full so she had to sit on our laps instead of having her own seat. We weren't quite sure how that would go, but she(and our arms) did just fine.

Look Who's Eating...

Mia likes to watch us eat. She follows the food from our plates to our mouths with what seems like great interest. So, when Mia turned four months old we couldn't wait to see what she thought of trying baby food. Here are pictures of her first meal of sweet potatoes and rice cereal, it went pretty well!

We decided that it was definitely time to order a high chair!

August 27th: Four Months Old

Mia is getting so big, it's hard to believe that she was once a newborn that didn't move around much or make any sounds. She likes to test her volume control when she talks now, and boy does she talk! Daycare says she has a lot to say there too. As you saw in a previous post, she is rolling over now and changing and  dressing her is becoming quite a sport. I swear she knows what she's doing, when she looks at me and giggles while she is turning and wiggling around. I can't get frustrated, she's too darn cute and just cracks me up!

I wish there were more hours in the day, so that I could enjoy more time with her. Our daily routine is pretty well established now. In the morning Rick feeds Mia while I get ready, then I get her ready and we head out the door. In the evening we all get home, play for a very brief time, then it's time for her bath, jammies, bottle, story and then off to bed. She is doing very well at night, if she does wake up in the wee hours I cheat and bring her in bed with us...love those snuggles!

Here are some pictures of Mia's four month "photo shoot". You can see that she is full of personality and let's us know how she feels.

She's talking to me here, I think she's telling me she's about done!

Laughing and gearing up...

...to roll away from the camera

Since I couldn't take a subtle hint or two, she decided to make it very clear to me that she was done with the pictures!

The Jumperoo

I thought it was time to introduce Mia to an activity center of some type, lucky for her she has awesome Aunt LeeAnn looking out for her. LeeAnn sent Mia the Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn Jumperoo, needless to say it was a HUGE hit as you can see below. She was just a little too short for it, so we just put a pillow under her feet and she was good to go!

Happy Birthday Charley

8/24 - Friday, finally!

8/25 - My sweet Charley turned five today, he's such a handsome little devil. I'm so glad that he was a foster "failure".

Back with Mom and she seems pretty happy about it.

Mia Rolled Over

I am back! Things got a little crazy there for a bit. Between work, school, our trip to Texas, Adam's wedding and wanting to spend time with Mia I was stretched a bit thin. Get ready for picture overload over the next few posts of mine.

8/22 - Laughing in the morning

8/23 - Yummy blanket

Look at those cheeks!

And as the title says, Mia rolled over from her back to her tummy. She had been trying to do it for a little while, but was getting stuck on her arm. I was so happy that I was sitting there when she made it all the way over and got her arm out. She was nice enough to stay in that position while I took a picture!
