My Blog Is On Facebook

I finally did it, created a Facebook page for my blog. I'm hoping to start blogging more and possibly doing some reviews and giveaways. I'd appreciate it if you would "like" Life at Chez K on Facebook for me, I need to start building up my stats!

Things were a little crazy Tuesday morning. I had to take my foster, Nellie, to the vet so I didn't get Mia's morning picture taken. Of course, it's hard for me to go a day without taking her picture so I got one when she passed out while I was holding her. I love that little girl so much!

The Day My Scale Made Me Happy

For a Monday morning, I was in a pretty good mood. When I got on the scale, I weighed 168. Why does that make me happy? Because that is one pound less than my pre-pregnancy weight of 169! While this still isn't where I ultimately want to be this was my first goal and I made it. I had been bouncing back and forth between two to four pounds to lose to get to my goal. I finally had enough and on Friday, I started cutting out carbs. For three days I ate lean and very lean proteins, got off my butt a little and voila! I've since added in some veggies along with my protein. I've been sticking to my diet very well, mostly because I know I'm going to Texas next week and I will be off the wagon then ;-)

And of course no blog post would be complete without a picture of Mia!

Kayaking Is Fun

On Sunday Shelly & I went kayaking. This was the first time for both of us and after hearing stories from other people I was a little nervous and not sure what to expect (neither of us fell out, but one guy in our group did). I am happy to say that we both loved it! Your arms do get a workout, but that's a good thing, right?! We went out with Shan-T Native Kayak Tours on an exotic mangrove tour. I would definitely recommend their company, the owner Mark was our guide and he was great. I am definitely looking into more places to go kayaking and want to make it something that I do at least every month or two.

Paddling...

Coming out of the mangrove tunnel

We got to see dolphins, they were so close to our group!

Mia was fast asleep when we got home, her day with Dad tuckered her out.

Exercise, blech!

I was up to jogging two miles right before I got pregnant. Since having Mia, I've only walked with her a few times and it was much shorter distances. Saturday, Shelly suggested that we go for a two mile walk and I agreed...it was high time I got off my derriere and actively tried to get the last few pregnancy pounds off.

O.M.G. What was I thinking?! I kept up a fast paced walk pushing Mia in her stroller. By the time I got back to the house I thought I was going to die and my head was going to explode. I know, I'm a wimp. Seriously though, it definitely made me realize how out of shape I am and I know I need to keep doing some form of exercise a few days a week. Mia seemed to enjoy the trip!

Later that evening Otto thought he would try out Mia's bouncer.

Apparently Cocoa thought we made Otto get out so that she could get in!

Mia was entertaining Amy, Shelly & I and of course I needed to take pictures! She kept closing her eyes because of the flash, it took quite a few shots to be able to see her little eyes. Here are some of my favorites...

August 13th - 17th

Mia got the all clear on Monday to go back to school. While she was on the mend, Rick & I were miserable. I would much rather have us feeling crappy than her though. The week pretty much consisted of us going to work, coming home and taking care of the princess then going to bed!

8/13 - Happy Monday

8/14 - Ready to go

8/15 - Rick really liked this dress on her

8/16 - Don't you just want to eat her up?

8/17 - Friday, finally!

Week of August 6th...

Sooo, I'm behind again! Once I miss a day or two, it just spirals from there! I don't know how my friends do it that work full-time, have a family AND a crazy, busy blog!

8/6 - Love that smile!

8/7 - She's got lots to say these days!

8/8 - I took this picture and then the poor little thing started coughing so hard, she was beet red and I decided it was time to go to the pediatrician. I thought she had been doing better and then ...not so much.

Poor Mia ended up having RSV and a double ear infection. I couldn't believe it, I really thought(hoped) they were just going to tell me she had a cold and I had to let it run its course. The ear infections threw me for an even bigger loop, she hadn't been fussy or pulling on her ears. It's crazy to me that she got her first Rx for Amoxicillin at three months old! Mia's pediatrician suggested that we keep her out of daycare for the rest of the week, so off to the office with me she went.

What a happy little girl even with all of her various ailments. I was so glad that she wasn't acting sick, that would've broken my heart. She was playing and kicking so much, she lost her sock!

8/9 - Still smiling, getting ready to head to the office with Mom & Dad.

8/10 - Hanging out in her Pack 'n Play

Playing with her Oball. I had no idea how much she would love that toy!

8/11 - Kim's bridal shower had an I Love Lucy theme, isn't she cute?!

Our Grandson was born! Colton James was born at 6:03pm, weighed 7lbs7oz and was 20" long. Congrats to Jeremy and Bridgett! We can't wait to meet him next month.

Bridgett & Colton were doing so well, they were able to come home Sunday!

August 2nd - 5th

8/2 - Mia talking to me

It's no secret that Cocoa LOVES company.  Since having Mia in the house to compete for the attention of visitors, Cocoa is much more excited when people come over. When Tom and Amy came over on Friday, August 3rd we saw a new side to Cocoa's excitement....she peed on Amy she was so happy to see her. I could not believe she did that, but here is the proof!

Friday I took in a new foster, Nellie. For those of you that don't know, I volunteer with IMPS, which is a MinPin Rescue group. I haven't had a foster in a while, Nellie is proving to be quite a sweet girl and I think I may already have a home for her *fingers crossed*.

Rick took the next two pics, when I laid down with Mia for a just a minute, haha! I had Mia next to me and apparently Charley thought that meant that he could snuggle up on her. Too cute!

I think the flash annoyed her a little bit, she's got a little scowl going on in the next picture.

Saturday, August 4th marked a year since my FET. What a sweet, beautiful little girl we have with us now!

August 5th - A little under the weather but still happy!

David's 26th Birthday

David's birthday was August 1st.  This was a special birthday because it was the first that he and I actually got to spend together since 2004, when he joined the Marines.  Three of those missed birthdays he was deployed; once to Iraq, once to Afghanistan and once on a ship. I have to say that those were the worst, for me anyway. I am so proud of my brother for his service to our country but I am so happy that he is retired now and close to home!

We went to David & Justine's for dinner, she made David's favorite roast(our Mom used to make it) and had a cake made for him.  Here is a picture of David and his cake, in case you don't know who the dog is(I didn't), that is Jake from Adventure Time...

July 31st

Getting ready to leave for daycare

Or not! Mia started filling up her diaper right after I buckled her up, so back out she came. If you remember from my post her first week in daycare, she ended up with some diarrhea...well it never completely went away. I decided after changing her third poop filled diaper of the morning it was time to call the pediatrician.

The pediatrician found some blood in her poop at the office and sent me home with two bottles to get more samples for them.  Mia's formula has also been switched to Nutramigen(aka ridiculously expensive stuff) as she might have a milk protein allergy. Last night was her first bottle of the new stuff, most people see a change within 48 hours, fingers crossed!

Who knew I would be talking about poop so much?!

July 30th

Back to school today, laughing away

Looking cute as ever

Mia loves her some Sophie! (thank you Rylie)

The dogs do NOT understand why they can not play with that toy.  I think we're going to have fun over the next couple of years with the dogs wanting to run off with Mia's toys!
