July 27th: Three Months Old

Mia is doing great! I haven't read the much touted "Happiest Baby on the Block", but I have to say that we couldn't ask for a happier baby! Mia is communicating more, holding toys and sleeping wonderfully at night...10 hours on average. Here are a few pictures:

This week so far...

I was informed last week when I picked Mia up that Mondays are water days at daycare. I asked exactly what that meant and for her age they put a playmat outside with a little bit of water on it for her. So Monday I sent her to daycare with her required items, when I asked how it went they said she did ok at first and then she was done! That's our girl, very opinionated! Mia slept in her crib from 8:30 tonight until 7 Tuesday morning, amazing!

Off to school

Heading out on Tuesday

Wednesday Mia was a little sleepy head. I changed her and got her dressed and she just kept sleeping away. I think when she woke up at daycare she was wondering how the heck she got there, lol.

They did art that day, nice black toes, huh?!

July 22nd

Rise and shine

Today was a big day, Mia's first time in the pool! Monday the 23rd was water day at school and I hadn't had Mia in a bathing suit yet, so we had to rectify that situation! The weather was a little iffy, but it finally cleared up for us. I have a bunch of pictures(thank you Amy), I will only put a few on here, to see the rest follow this link!

July 19th - No School For Mia

I'm getting ready talk about poop, so if that bothers you, stop reading now! Mia went to sleep around 8:30pm Wednesday night and when she woke up around 3am, she had pooped at some point in the night...very strange for her. Mia is a one poop a day kinda girl, maybe two every once in a while. While I was feeding her she pooped again, more strangeness. Not long after I changed her, yep, you guessed it, more poop! The last time it was serious diarrhea, I was concerned. I was debating calling the pediatrician's office or just keeping an eye on the end I made the call and took her in. Turns out that on top of the eye infection she also had a stomach bug.

Mia got to stay home with Mom and Dad, or actually she got to go to the office with us. We put the pack and play up in Rick's office and worked and played throughout the day. Mia was still in a great mood despite her tummy troubles.

I think she liked being able to see Rick from the pack and play and enjoyed talking to him throughout the day.

All the excitement wore her out.

I really liked having Mia at the office with us and I am happy to report that Mia is feeling much better now!

July 18th - The Sickies

Mia let me know what she thought of my daily picture taking.

The day was going very well, Rick was picking up Mia because I had to take the dogs to the vet. About the time Rick should have been arriving at daycare to pick Mia up, they called me. Mia's teacher started telling me that Mia's right eye was draining green all day...then she said Dad had arrived so she would just finish telling him. Of course, I was waiting anxiously for Rick to call and fill me in. Basically that was the gist of it, Mia's eye had been draining and crusting up. When they got to the house, her eye was definitely red and gooey. I wasn't sure if I should take her to After Hours or wait until the morning and call the pediatrician. I decided to call LeeAnn since she has tons of experience with daycare sickies(unfortunately), she suggested After Hours as they would prescribe some meds that would start taking effect in a couple hours. Mia's first trip to After Hours:

The Doctor said it was a blocked tear duct and that can lead to infections. On her diagnosis paper he just put blocked tear you think he has experience with making sure kids can go back to daycare? Mia was given a prescription for erythromycin ointment that we had to put in her eye two times a day. As you can see, the trip to the doctor didn't phase Mia one bit...

I still can't believe that it only took three days at daycare for my poor baby to get sick. I knew it wouldn't be long, but geez!

July 17th

I am happy to report that no tears were shed on day two! Mia seemed quite happy to be going back to daycare again.

July 16th - First Day of Daycare

What a tough day! I had to go back to work and take Mia to daycare for the first time. Mia was her normal, happy, carefree self that morning...which was good for me. If Mia had been fussy I would have been sure that it was because she knew what was coming and was NOT happy about it! Of course I took a picture before we left the house...

I cried on the way to drop her off but held it together while I was there. Of course my stupid nose was running so Mia's teacher(Miss Melissa) just gave me that knowing look and handed me a tissue. I pretty much figured that they have seen every reaction over the years so I wasn't standing out as completely insane...YET!

Mia was happy to meet her teacher and be held by her, so I finally left to head to the office. Of course, as soon as I got back in my truck the tears came again. It sounds so silly, I knew she was going to be fine and I was going to see her in a few hours, but a little piece of my heart felt like it was breaking leaving her. On top of the "Am I being a good Mom?" "Shouldn't I be staying with my baby?" typical mental debates in my head...I just REALLY missed her. We are so lucky to have such a good baby, I have heard some stories that make me even more thankful than I already am that Mia is so content 95% of the time ;-)

I am happy to report that both Mia and I survived day one of daycare(I didn't even call to check on her). When I went to pick her up, she was on a play mat and as soon as I bent over her she immediately started smiling at me...I knew I was forgiven for leaving her there and that she still loved me.  Once we got home and I started talking to her she started talking and  laughing; it was more laughing at one time than she has ever laughed before...that made me feel better too, it was like she was saying "It's ok Mom.  I like it there, they are nice and I had fun!"...that's what I'm telling myself anyway!
